Update from South Sudan
"From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I."- Psalm 61:2 (NKJV)
Truly this describes my heart as I have begun to see and hear of the intense suffering of the people here in Sudan. First they endured decades of war with the Muslim north and then came to peace only to be thrown into a vicious tribal civil war for the last three years. Millions have fled the country and hundreds of thousands have died. So many are hopeless and need to know the love of Jesus. They are traumatized and the churches are shallow and in need of the full teaching of the Word of God.
Pray with us for the people here. We have been asked to provide teaching and share the word of God. The bright light of the past few days has been meeting a group of Darfurian believers. We have had such sweet fellowship with them and they all love the word of God and hunger after it. Every one of them was a former Muslim that God ministered to in miraculous ways. They fled Darfur in Northwest Sudan because they were being slaughtered by other Muslims. They came here and found the love of Jesus Christ. We heard testimonies of Jesus appearing to them in their dreams and directing them to other Christians. It was so inspiring and encouraging. They asked for prayer as they want to go back and share Jesus with their own people. We went through Philippians with them and they were so engrossed in the teaching and very thankful for it.
We gave the pastor of the church a study Bible and he said he had been praying for a study Bible for three years but could never afford one and then we showed up with one just for him! He knows exactly what we need and is faithful to provide.
God is so good. He has opened a lot of doors and we have so many stories to tell. The need for the teaching of Gods word is so great here in this country! Please join us in prayer for this country and for the church, the leadership and for the Gospel to be spread!
Browse through some photos of our time with the Darfurian church. The final picture in the lineup is of Pastor Gary presenting the study Bible to the pastor of the church who has been praying for a Bible!
